UT starting linebacker and projected All-American Sergio Kindle will not face criminal charges for a hit-and-run June 24. Early that morning, Kindle crashed his car into an apartment and then drove away from the scene.
A few hours later, Kindle reported the accident to school, team, and police officials. According to Austin police officials, if a driver damages property in a crash and reports the accident within 48 hours, damaging the property is not considered a criminal offense.
Kindle's lawyer said Kindle crashed into the house because he was texting while driving. The damage to the apartment totaled $8,700, and Kindle's lawyer settled the damage costs with the property owners.
