Accident victim phone numbers will no longer appear on reports

Posted on October 30th, 2009 No Comments

Texas transportation officials voted Thursday to remove phone numbers from accident forms. The provision is meant to prevent lawyers and telemarketing firms to solicit people involved in accidents.

In the past, the Texas Department of Public Safety officials removed the information voluntarily. However, after complaints from lawyers and other intrested parties, DPS officials made it a requirement to remove the information.

How hydraulic system defects can lead to injuries

Posted on October 28th, 2009 No Comments

Many machines used on construction sites contain some type of hydraulic system. These systems are indispensable in many machines because they allow forces to be transmitted throughout the machine.

Hydraulic systems work by applying a force that is transmitted to another force via an incompressible fluid. This method of transmission is useful for a number of reasons.

One, because the transmission occurs through pipe network, it can be easily transferred in complex systems. And two, by adjusting the length and volume of the pipes, the force can be multiplied. In other words, no extra force needs to be initially applied in order to generate a greater force in the output.

Hydraulic systems, however, can be dangerous if they are not designed properly. For instance, if a hydraulic system has an air bubble, it may not function properly and lead to a complete system failure.

If you or anyone you know has been injured while operating a machine with a defective hydraulic system, contact the Austin products liability lawyers of Vic Feazell, P.C., at 513-372-8100.

The risk of explosion for propane tanks

Posted on October 21st, 2009 No Comments

Propane tanks are a useful source for heating in many areas where common energy sources do not exist. However, given its combustible nature, propane tanks pose a risk of injury to all users.

While propane tank manufacturers design the tanks with many safety devices, the safety devices do not prevent all injuries. For instance, if the pressure valve on the tank is not working correctly, then a propane tank user may be unaware when the pressure reaches too high of a level. If this occurs, the propane tank might explode, causing serious injury or even death to its user.

If you have been injured in a propane tank accident, contact the Austin personal injury lawyers of Vic Feazell, P.C., at 877-948-4842.

The inherent dangers of electrical appliances

Posted on October 21st, 2009 No Comments

While electrical appliances are helpful around the house, they pose a risk to all family members. The risk is inherent in the design and energy source for the appliances.

Manufacturers of electrical companies go to great lengths to install safety devices that minimize the risk of electrocution. However, some products are badly designed or may be damaged through wear and tear. When this occurs, people handling these faulty appliances stand a greater chance of being electrocuted.

In some cases, electrical appliance eletrocutions are not caused by the electrical appliances themselves. In some cases, people are electrocuted because they do not practice enough precaution when plugging in the appliance and are electrocuted when they come in contact with the outlet.

If you or anyone you know has been injured in an electrical accident, contact the Austin personal injury lawyers of the Law Offices of Vic Feazell, P.C., at 512-372-8100.
