This weekend, a South Austin apartment complex caught fire, injuring several and leaving 44 displaced from their homes. Early Sunday morning around 5:30 AM, four apartments in the Bainbridge Villas on Southridge Drive became engulfed in flames, leaving approximately $840,000 worth of structural damage. Eight other apartments suffered less serious damage from the fire.
Four people had to be taken to hospitals for their injuries, at least two of which suffered from broken bones after jumping from their apartment’s windows. One resident was transported to the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio for severe burning on her feet.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the fire.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the those who lost their homes and belongings in the fire.
