APD officer collides with motorcycle, citizens question cause of accident

Posted on July 7th, 2010 No Comments

A 74-year old Austin resident was hospitalized after his motorcycle was struck by a police vehicle at the intersection of Lamplight Village and Magazine Street. Eyewitnesses say that the officer, a 10-year veteran of the APD, was not paying attention to the road and accidentally glided through the intersection despite the fact that he thought the vehicle was idling. It is believed that the officer was paying attention to the vehicle's onboard communications systems and did not notice that the vehicle was in motion.  Although the force of impact was only around 10 miles per hour, the driver of the motorcycle sustained injuries that were serious enough to require hospitalization for several days.

If you have been hurt due to the negligent actions of another person, you may be eligible to take legal action to recover damages including pain, suffering, and medical expenses. Motorcyclist killed in Austin accident

Posted on June 18th, 2010 No Comments

An initial investigation showed that a collision between a Honda and an orange Harley Davidson motorcycle, resulted in the death of the motorcyclist Tuesday.  The accident occurred when the silver Honda, which was traveling southbound on Emerald Forest Drive slowed down to turn left onto a side street.  The motorcycle was also traveling southbound on the same road and did not slow down in time to brake.  It collided into the back of the car and the motorcyclist was ejected from his vehicle.

Emergency Medical Services immediately transported the biker to the University Medical Center with serious injuries.  He was pronounced dead on Wednesday.  The motorcyclist was found to have alcohol in his system.   The driver of the Honda went uninjured and no charges are set to be made in this incident.  The case is still under investigation.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of all those involved in this tragic accident.
