A bus carrying 22 students crashed into a pickup truck Tuesday. According to police reports, the accident occurred on FM 1518. 

When medical officials arrived to the scene, they found that 12 students on the bus were injured. However, none suffered serious injuries.

Austin City Council members may prohibit texting while driving, except in emergency circumstances. The the council members will vote on the ordinance next week.

The ordinance would be the first such ordinance in any city in Texas. While it would prohibit texting in most circumstances, it would allow drivers to text while the vehicle is stopped and if the driver is in an emergency situation.

A girl at a Waco school was killed when a cabinet fell on her Wednesday. According to police reports, two children climbed into a rolling cabinet. While the two were chasing a lizard, the cabinet toppled over and crushed the young girl. 

When medical officials arrived, they took the young girl to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. None of the other students at the school was injured in the accident.

A motorcyclist was involved in a wreck and sustained serious injuries Monday. The man was riding east on U.S. 290 when he hit a Honda Civic and was thrown from his motorcycle. 

According to police reports, the man was taken to a nearby hospital and was in critical condition. The driver of the other car was not charged with any crime, but police said an investigation is ongoing.

An 8-year-old boy riding his bicycle was hit by a car Tuesday. According to police reports, the boy was peddling down Washington Avenue when he swerved into traffic, where a car could not avoid the boy and hit him.

According to police reports, the boy was seriously injured in the accident, and was not wearing a helmet. The woman driving the car was not cited for the accident.

A National Guard Humvee was driving down Interstate 35 in the rain when it went airborne and crashed into oncoming traffic. The accident resulted in a six-vehicle wreck that killed a National Guard soldier and two other drivers. 

After hitting the first car, the Humvee hit a trailer truck and a garbage truck, which led to three incidental accidents. The wreck closed the interstate for about 3 hours.

A man from Austin was injured when his bike was struck by a car Monday. Michael Merriott was biking west on Oakland Avenue when his bike hit the side of a car. 

When police authorities arrived to the scene, they found Merriott on the ground bleeding and not wearing a helmet. The man driving the car said he did not see Merriott before the accident, and police officials said they would not likely cite the driver.
