Posted on February 18th, 2010 No Comments

One of the most common types of train accidents is train derailment. These accidents often occur because of defects or hazards on the track.

When trains derail, the accident can result in serious injuries because of the train's high speed. When individuals are injured in these accidents, the company that owns the train or the tracks may be responsible for damages.

Can ice or snow block traffic lights?

Posted on January 5th, 2010 No Comments

Traffic lights are vital for maintaining the steady flow of traffic. Because of the different signals sent out by traffic lights, drivers are able to coordinate driving through intersections and other areas where traffic accidents are likely to occur.

However, traffic lights are not full proof. For time to time, they can break because of electrical problems. Also, the traffic signals can be blocked by either ice or snow.

In most cases, the ice or snow will melt off the traffic lights and cause no problems. If it is cold enough, however, the lights will be blocked and could cause traffic accidents.

If you or anyone you know has been injured in an accident due to a faulty traffic light, contact the Austin personal injury lawyers of Vic Feazell, P.C., at 877-948-4842.

Posted on January 5th, 2010 No Comments

As more cold weather hits Texas, many Austin residents are beginning to find ice on their windshield. This ice will typically impair most Austin drivers' ability to see properly.

If drivers attempt to drive with the ice on their windshield, they increase their chances of getting in an accident and may be responsible in a personal injuy lawsuit.

If you have ice on your windshield, you should take a number of steps before you drive. For instance, you should turn on the heat in your car to melt the ice. Also, you could use an ice scraper or similar tool to remove the ice.

Who is liable if a construction worker is injured in a traffic accident?

Posted on December 8th, 2009 No Comments

Every day construction workers repair problems with roads and highways. When this repair is occurring, the roads and highways are usually marked with cones and other traffic markers.

These markers are meant to keep construction workers safe. However, because traffic typically still occurs while roads are being repaired, there is a chance that traffic construction workers could be injured by moving traffic.

When these accidents occur, the driver or the construction company may be liable. The liability often depends on the facts and circumstances of the case.

If the driver ignores the traffic markers and this leads to the accident, then the driver may be liable. On the other hand, if the driver follows the markers and the markers are misplaced, then the construction company may be liable.

If you or anyone you know has been injured in a construction traffic accident, contact the Austin construction traffic accident lawyers of Vic Feazell, P.C., at 877-948-4842.

Is it more dangerous to talk or text while driving?

Posted on December 8th, 2009 No Comments

Many drivers on the road frequently talk or text while driving. As some studies have suggested, drivers who text while driving put not only themselves or other drivers at risk.

By texting while driving, drivers often become distracted and do give their full attention to the road. When this occurs, the chance of a traffic accident usually increases.

While many people understand the risks of texting while driving, some do not understand the similar risks of talking while driving. When drivers talk on the cell phone, they are able to pay attention to the road, but they are not able to give their full attention to the road.

If you or anyone you know has been injured in a car accident with drivers who text or talk on the cell phone, contact the Austin car accident lawyers of Vic Feazell, P.C., at 877-948-4842.
